Growing Closer - Tony Tan

‪Brother Tony Tan is one of the newer members to LAPCOC and was baptised on 14 Sep 2022. Through this quick fire chat, let us get to know Brother Tony a bit better and welcome him further!

Farand:

Hi Tony, happy to reach out to you, would you be able to introduce yourself firstly?

Tony:

I'm married with 2 boys aged 15 and 16, and have a pet dog - Westipoo. I work in the education industry. I enjoy swimming and reading.

Farand:

Nice! What kind of nature does your Westipoo have?

Tony:

Playful and loyal.

Farand:

How did you get to hear about LAPCOC?

Tony:

My dog brought me there when we were walking. I stay near the church building.

Farand:

Oh wow. That’s interesting. And did you just walk in?

Tony:

I did. Met Bro Ernest, Ben and Peter! Bro Peter started teaching me.

Farand:

I see. What was your background in terms of faith beforehand?

Tony:

Had also believed in GOD since young when my biological brother preached to me. On and off attended church. Was not baptised. My biological brother who introduced me to GOD and CHRIST was there to witness my baptism.

Farand:

Was there any thing in particular that prompted you to walk in?

Tony:

I was trying to attend a church service on Sunday that suits my working hours, as I work on Sunday

Farand:

Which service do you usually attend?

Tony:

Morning worship

Farand:

And how long did you study with Brother Peter for?

Tony:

From Sep - Dec; at times brother Jun Wei, Lawrence and Ben stand in when bro Peter is not able to

Farand:

You mentioned you stay around the area. Any places / food stalls or restaurants around the area that are your favourites that you can recommend?

Tony:

😅 dont eat out much.

Farand:

I understand! How has your relationship with God changed since you were baptised? Would you have further thoughts to share with the brethren?

Tony:

Greatest challenge is distinguishing GOD's words from man's interpretations.

Greatest difficulty is on denominational differences.

With free will, comes worldly concerns, desires and sufferings.

With baptism, comes struggle between acts of service and acts of love, love of self and love of GOD, worldly needs and spiritual needs.

With GOD, comes joy, peace and love.
