In less than 3 weeks’ time, we will be holding our annual gospel meeting from 28 – 30 November. This year, the theme selected is “Is The End Of The World Soon?” Three speakers from America will be speaking for us. It will be a great spiritual feast, and we need everyone’s help to prepare for it! Here are 3 things you can do for the gospel meeting.
HELP TO GIVE OUT INVITATION TRACTS
On 16 November Saturday, we will be meeting to give out 3,000 tracts in the vicinity of the church building (details in the bulletin). We need members to help give out these tracts inviting members of the public to attend the gospel meeting. We need “feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace” (Ephesians 6:15), who will tirelessly go from block to block, from floor to floor, and from door to door, to give lost souls who are searching for truth an opportunity to know that the Lord’s church is assembling in their community, and that they are welcome to come study with us.
HELP TO INVITE A FRIEND
In addition to helping to give out tracts, we can go a step further and help to invite a friend to the gospel meeting. Imagine what a wonderful sight it would be, to see the hall packed with members and their friends! Imagine what a great opportunity it would be for these lost, wandering souls to hear the gospel message! As the preacher, I am always looking out for people to study with – but you can help play your part too by introducing friends and family members to me as well (cf. 1 Corinthians 3:6). What better time to do so, than during the upcoming gospel meeting?
HELP TO BE FRIENDLY
Finally, during the gospel meeting itself, we need everyone’s help to be friendly to our guests. Imagine how much courage it must have taken them, to walk into an unfamiliar building, to be in the midst of unfamiliar people. Now imagine how they might feel if no one greets them, if no one makes them feel welcome, if no one is friendly towards them. Why should they return? What a pity it would be if an opportunity to convert a lost soul is lost, because no one spoke with them when they were in our midst? We need everyone’s help to be friendly: greet our guests, introduce yourself, and offer to sit with them!
And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest. (Matthew 9:35-38)
