Text: Rom 1:20
A. The Lord our creator (Isa 40:28).
We can be sure that God exists from the creation (Rom 1:20). a. The law of conservation of energy and mass tells us that something could not have come from nothing (Heb 11:3). b. The law of biogenesis tells us that life could not have come from nonlife (Act 17:25).
We are special to God because He created us in His image (Gen 1:27).
Since God is our creator, we ought to honour Him (Mal 1:6).
B. The Lord our provider (Jer 14:22).
We can be sure that God exists from His providence (Act 14:17). a. The laws of nature indicates careful planning (Ecc 1:5-7).b. The law of reproduction indicates intelligent design (Gen 1:11, 24).
We are special to God because He takes great care of us (Mat 6:26).
Since God is our provider, we ought to trust Him (Mat 6:33).
C. The Lord our saviour (Hos 13:4).
We can be sure that God exists from our search for salvation (Psa 42:1). a. Man has always been conscious and curious about his spiritual nature (Job 14:14). b. This is because God has set eternity in our hearts (Ecc 3:11) so that we will seek Him (Act 17:27).
We are special to God because He died to save us (Heb 2:9).
Since God is our saviour, we ought to obey Him (Heb 5:9).
D. The Lord our judge (Psa 105:7).
We can be sure that God exists from principles of justice (Mat 19:17). a. If there is no God, then there can be no objective standard of good and evil, right and wrong (Rom 4:15). b. But God has given us a conscience to distinguish between good and evil, right and wrong (Rom 2:15).
We are special to God because He gave us life beyond death (Ecc 12:7).
Since God is our judge, we ought to fear Him (Ecc 12:13-14).
